The Pioneer Gravel Equipment Manufacturing Company, located in Minnesota, designed and manufactured equipment used by the aggregate industry for building America’s highway systems since the 1920's. Over the years, Pioneer expanded the product offering to include products designed for the mining, cement and quarry industries.
Kolberg Manufacturing began operations in 1965 in South Dakota producing vibrating screens, screen plants, portable and stationary conveyors and stacking conveyors. Soon, additional products were added, including classifying tanks, computerized controls, a full line of material washing equipment, portable pugmill plants and silos.
Kolberg and Pioneer were acquired by Portec and joined to form the Portec Construction Equipment Division in Yankton, South Dakota in the 1980’s.
Astec Industries purchased Kolberg and Pioneer in 1997 and further melded the two together. |
